This project was especially interesting. Focusing on how memory changes and faded over time, I explored my own by drawing the same sneaker from memory every day for 100 days.
At first, I thought this project would be a bust… thinking it would look repetitive and boring because I was confident in my ability to remember how something looked and draw it from memory. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome of this prompt. I began to stop trying to focus on the details of the shoe since they were fading fast from my memory and try to capture the essence of it. And honestly just have fun with it!
I started with an image of a sneaker unfamiliar to me. Day one I drew the sneaker from the image and every day after that I utilized my memory. I used procreate to expand my knowledge in the software. I wanted to only use primary colors to create some relation to each very different version. After the 100 days were complete, I took the collection of drawings and created a booklet called “100 Days of a Sneaker”
